(MDPI, 2023) Soto Fernández, Irene; Pérez Pérez, Jorge; Frade, Fátima; Frías, Ana; Palma, Sara; Días, Hellas; Aaberg, Vicki; Castagnaro, Elena; Mecugni, Daniela; Fernández Cezar, Raquel; Gómez Cantarino, María Sagrario
Higher education is key to developing a competent and engaged society. Therefore, holistic learning is a fundamental element. This study aimed to test the validity and reliability of a questionnaire for extracurricular teaching actions in higher education. The questionnaire was delivered online to nursing and teaching students participating in the extracurricular action organized by the universities participating in the EdSeX Project, in all cases worded in English. Reliability was measured through internal consistency provided by Cronbach’s alpha coefficient, yielding a value of 0.638 for the 19 items. The internal consistency for each latent variable measured by Cronbach’s alpha coefficient was 0.816 for F1 (N = 6) and 0.625 for F2 (N = 3). This means that in the applicable satisfaction questionnaire, the professor interactions and the quality of the organization of the teaching activity of the topic are the most influential elements in the training action. The questionnaire proved to have a good validity and is therefore a reliable instrument to measure the level of higher education students’ satisfaction with learning.

Afirmación de la mujer en la medicina durante el siglo XV y XVI: un proceso religioso e inquisitorial
(Universidad de Alicante, 2017) Marques Grenha, Catia Filipa; Costa Couto, Filipa; Puerto Fernández, Isabel; Moreno Preciado, Manuel; Alves Rodrigues, Manel; Gómez Cantarino, María Sagrario
During the fifteenth and sixteenth century, at a time of repression and religious and inquisitorial persecution, women have acted as informal caregivers with empirical practices. The objectives of this article is to emphasize the process of professionalization of women’s care over that period and to know the role of the church and men in critical care to women, as well as presenting Spanish female figures who have excelled in medicine during this period. Methods: The task is a narrative review of secondary sources related with the object of study, as well as an analysis of the same sources from the social history, keeping in mind the characteristics of the era of study. Results: During the centuries XV and XVI, the church, along with the medical class, led to a suppression of feminine care that influenced their acceptance. Thus, feminine care generated disagreement and conflict between the church and society and the informal women’s care began to be part of the professionalized medical profession. Conclusions: The findings from this study highlight the acceptance of female empirical practices, in contrast to the theoretical knowledge of medical and subsequently the inclusion of women in professional care.

Una alternativa para la determinación de las regiones europeas subvencionables con fondos estructurales y de cohesión.
(CLM.ECONOMÍA, 2006) Pavía Miralles, José Manuel; Larraz Iribas, Beatriz
The structural and cohesion funds play a main role among the European regional policy, which tries to reduce the gaps in development among the regions and disparities among the European citizens in terms of well-being. The list of regions and areas eligible for funding -amount to 308.000 millions of euros during the 2007 to 2013 period- are chosen considering the regional GDP per inhabitant as the variable of reference. Looking at the importance of this indicator and attending to the complex socioeconomic reality that the regions show, it should not be enough explained through a single variable. So, this is why the aim of this paper is to develop a new procedure to get into homogeneous clusters the European regions, using the great amount of available variables that are able to grasp the economic, politic, cultural and demographic characteristics of the mentioned regions.

Quick counts from non selected polling stations.
(Taylor & Francis, 2008) Pavía Miralles, José Manuel; Larraz Iribas, Beatriz
Countless examples of misleading forecasts on behalf of both campaign and exit polls affecting, among others, British, French, and Spanish elections could be found. This has seriously damaged their image. Therefore, procedures should be used that minimize errors, especially on election night when errors are more noticeable, in order to maintain people's trust in surveys. This paper proposes a method to obtain quick and early outcome forecasts on the election night. The idea is to partly sample some (whatever) polling stations and use the consistency that polling stations show between elections to predict the final results. Model accuracy is analysed through simulation using seven different types of samples in four elections. The efficacy of the technique is also tested predicting the 2005 Eusko Legebiltzarra elections from real data. Results confirm that the procedure generates highly reliable and accurate forecasts. Furthermore, compared with the classical quick count strategy, the method is revealed as much more robust and precise.
