Estudio geomorfológico del volcán basáltico monogénico de Orchilla (El Hierro, Canarias)
Abstract
Geomorphological study of the Orchilla cinder cone (El Hierro, Canary Islands).
The eruption of Orchilla represents one of the best examples of recent basaltic volcanism in El Hierro Island. During this eruption, a lot of volcanic vents were constructed with explosives dynamics and effusive behaviours. This vents emitted pyroclastic material which covered the previous cinder cones and lava flows that had contributed to the formation of ?isla baja? of Orchilla. This morphovolcanic complex posses peculiar morphologic elements to be considered by themselves a Natural Monument
