21 Los fortines de los rojos. Búnkeres de la costa catalana: patrimonio inmueble de la Guerra Civil en riesgo

Abstract

El 30 de octubre de 1936 el barco Canarias bombardeó la población costera de Rosas (Girona). Esto alertó al ejército Republicano frente un posible desembarco y supuso, para la población civil, el inicio de un período de terror frente a los inminentes y numerosos bombardeos. Como respuesta, la Junta d’Obres i Fortificacions junto con un gran número de voluntarios de las diferentes poblaciones inició la construcción de más de 300 nidos de ametralladoras ubicados estratégicamente a lo largo de toda la costa catalana. La visita y el análisis constructivo realizado de 59 nidos, reflejan que formaban parte de un plan de defensa conjunto siguiendo unos parámetros arquitectónicos comunes y, a su vez, dejan patente la falta de recursos del momento. También, este estudio conjunto ha permitido ver las diferentes peculiaridades de cada construcción, teniendo en cuenta su ubicación, la integración en el paisaje, los materiales utilizados y su estado de conservación. Por otro lado, se ha realizado un análisis del tratamiento patrimonial que reciben estas construcciones comparándolo entre ellas, así como con otras construcciones militares. ABSTRACT: On October 30th, 1936, the ship called “the Canarias” bombed the coastal town of Rosas (Girona). This alerted the Republican army of a possible landing and meant, for the civil population, the beginning of a period of terror caused by the imminent and numerous bombings. In response, the “Junta d'Obres i Fortificacions” with a large number of volunteers from different affected towns, began the construction of more than 300 machine-gun nests, strategically located along the entire Catalan coast. The visit and the constructive analysis, carried out of 59 nests, reflect that they were part of a joint defense plan following the common architectural parameters and, in addition, it make clear the lack of resources at the moment. Also, this joint study has allowed us to see the different peculiarities of each construction, considering its location, the integration into the landscape, the materials used and the state of conservation. As well, there has been an analysis of the patrimonial treatment that these constructions have received in comparison with each other and with other similar military constructions.
