13 Los aparatos Pre-photomaton: ¿una atracción turística?

Abstract

Muchos años antes de la aparición del Photomaton en 1925 ya existían por el mundo cámaras fotográficas accionadas por monedas. Fue a partir de la primera patente mundial presentada en 1887 por el fotógrafo de Barcelona, Juan Cantó y Mas, cuando empezaron a expandirse por todo el mundo mecanismos fotográficos accionados por monedas. Entre 1887 y 1902 en Barcelona surgen una gran cantidad de proyectos, convirtiéndose de alguna manera en capital de la fotografía automática. Instalados en los lugares más céntricos o turísticos de la ciudad esos aparatos se convirtieron en una atracción para los ciudadanos.

Many years before the presentation of the Photomaton in 1925, automatic photographic cameras operated by coins already existed around the world. It was from the first world patent in 1887 by the Barcelona photographer, Juan Cantó y Mas, that photographic mechanisms operated by coins began to spread all over the world. Between 1887 and 1902 in Barcelona a large number of projects emerged, becoming in some way the capital of automatic photography. Installed in the most central or touristic places of the city, these devices became an attraction for the citizens.
